In the small community of Standish, Michigan, a tragedy unfolded that left a family shattered and a community in mourning. Dainara Fisher, a 29-year-old Caucasian woman, was killed on October 14, 2024. Her life was cut short in an act of violence that occurred within her own home on West Stover Road in Arenac Township.
On that autumn evening, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a chilling call was made to the authorities.
It was Dainara's husband, 38-year-old Jacob Fisher, who reported that he had shot his wife. When deputies arrived at the residence, they made a gruesome discovery. Dainara’s body was found in a garbage can, having sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The tragedy was compounded by the fact that five minor children were present in the home at the time of the incident.
Jacob Fisher was immediately taken into custody by law enforcement. He was subsequently charged with open murder and is being held without bond in the Arenac County Jail. The investigation into Dainara's death is being handled by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, with assistance from detectives from the State Police West Branch Post.
In the wake of this devastating event, the community has rallied to support Dainara's five children. A GoFundMe campaign was established to help with funeral expenses and provide for the children's future. Those who knew Dainara remember her as a beautiful soul who brought light and happiness to those around her, a stark and sorrowful contrast to the violent end of her life.
