In the early hours of a late spring morning in Wyoming, Michigan, a domestic tragedy unfolded, leaving a mother and two of her children dead. Thirty-three-year-old Liliana Landa-Sanchez was found slain in her home on May 31, 2022. The grim discovery was made around 4 a.m. at a residence on Godfrey Avenue SW.
Investigators believe that Landa-Sanchez was shot and killed by her 43-year-old boyfriend, Oscar Moran-Hernandez.
In the same violent outburst, Moran-Hernandez also fatally shot two of Landa-Sanchez's daughters, 13-year-old Joelin Hernandez-Landa and 11-year-old Ayzy Hernandez-Landa. After committing the murders, Oscar Moran-Hernandez then turned the gun on himself, taking his own life.
The initial investigation pointed towards a domestic dispute as the catalyst for the horrific events. The killings were discovered after Moran-Hernandez contacted a relative who then went to the home. While the scene was one of immense tragedy, three other children, ages 2, 5, and 9, were also present in the house at the time but were found physically unharmed. Landa-Sanchez and Moran-Hernandez were the parents of the two youngest children who were spared. The investigation into the murder-suicide was handled by local police, who described the event as a tragic loss of life.
