In the quiet community of Wyoming, Michigan, a tragic end came to the life of 44-year-old Bettina Stieglitz-Sanchez in February 2015. Originally from Germany, the female resident's life was cut short in a devastating act of violence that concluded a history of domestic turmoil.
On the night of Sunday, February 22, 2015, the bodies of Bettina Stieglitz-Sanchez and her 50-year-old estranged husband, Albert Sanchez, were discovered near Porter Street and Byron Center Avenue SW.
The investigation by Wyoming police revealed a grim sequence of events. Albert Sanchez had fatally shot his wife three times while she was in a car. In an attempt to conceal the crime, he then tried to set the vehicle on fire. However, due to a lack of oxygen inside the closed car, the fire did not fully engulf it.
Following the murder of his estranged wife, Albert Sanchez took his own life in a nearby parking lot. A gun was recovered at the scene, linking him to the violent acts.
