In the early hours of January 1, 2023, 17-year-old D'Asia Garrison was fatally shot in East Baltimore, marking the city's first homicide of the year. Around 3:30 a.m., police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 700 block of North Glover Street, where they found Garrison suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries. A 31-year-old man also sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the incident.
