In the winter of 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in an East Baltimore neighborhood, forever altering the lives of three individuals and bringing a tragic end to the life of 60-year-old Shirley Jordan. The incident, a triple shooting, unfolded on the evening of Friday, February 19th, in the 2300 block of Aiken Street, near Darley Avenue. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
All three were transported to local hospitals for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Shirley Jordan, a female resident of Baltimore, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The two other victims, whose identities were not publicly disclosed, were fortunate to survive the violent encounter. The shooting sent shockwaves through the community, prompting an immediate and intensive investigation by the Baltimore Police Department.
Within a day of the shooting, authorities made a swift arrest in connection with the case. On February 20th, police apprehended 31-year-old Nathaniel Green. Initially, Green was taken into custody on an unrelated parole retake warrant. However, the ongoing investigation into the triple shooting quickly identified him as the primary suspect.
Following his arrest and subsequent questioning by homicide detectives, Nathaniel Green was formally charged with a litany of offenses related to the violent incident on Aiken Street. The charges against him were severe and numerous, including first-degree murder for the death of Shirley Jordan. He also faced two counts of attempted first and second-degree murder for the non-fatal shootings of the other two victims. Additional charges included two counts of first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and a host of firearm-related offenses, such as handgun on person, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm, and firearm possession with a felony conviction. Investigators believed that a dispute that had occurred in the area the previous night may have escalated and ultimately led to the tragic shooting.
