On a summer evening in Baltimore, the life of Kayla Williams, a 30-year-old Black woman and mother of three, was tragically cut short. On July 22, 2025, at approximately 11:26 p.m., police were called to the 1100 block of Mt. Holly Street in the Edmondson Village neighborhood. There, they found Kayla Williams suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Medics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
The neighborhood, described by residents as typically quiet, was a familiar place to Williams as her father lived in the community and she was well-known to many in the area. Just hours before her death, at 8 o'clock that evening, she had spoken with her mother, Charmayne Turner. The news of her murder came as a profound shock to her family, delivered by a knock on the door from detectives the following day.
In the wake of her death, Baltimore homicide detectives have been actively investigating the case, though many details of the investigation have been kept private. As of late 2025, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. In an effort to generate leads, authorities have offered an $8,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and felony charges of the individual or individuals responsible for her murder.
Kayla's family, including her mother and stepfather, Andre Turner, have made public pleas for justice. They remember her for her 'zest for life' and are now faced with the immense grief of her loss and the challenge of raising her three children, two boys and a girl, the youngest of whom was only three years old at the time of her mother's death. The family has urged anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward and contact the authorities, in the hope that those responsible for this heinous act will be brought to justice.
