On the evening of February 17, 2023, a sense of ordinary transit turned into a scene of violence aboard a Metro bus in White Oak, Maryland, resulting in the death of 19-year-old Justice T’Ziyan Elliott. That Friday, at approximately 7:40 p.m., Montgomery County police officers on patrol near the Vista at White Oak apartments noticed a WMATA Metro Bus stopped on Lockwood Drive and stopped to assist.
