In the late hours of a Wednesday night in White Oak, Maryland, the sounds of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 1500 block of November Circle. It was March 24, 2021, and a violent encounter was unfolding that would tragically end the lives of two young men. Responding to the reports of shots fired at approximately 11:47 p.m., Montgomery County police officers arrived to a grim scene.
They discovered one victim, 25-year-old Brian Waters of Burtonsville, lying outside with an apparent gunshot wound.
As the investigation began, the scope of the tragedy widened. A short distance away, in the vicinity of Stewart Lane and April Lane, another victim was found. He was identified as 18-year-old Pierre Daye, a resident of White Oak. Like Waters, Daye had sustained a gunshot wound. Both men were rushed to local hospitals in a desperate attempt to save their lives, but their injuries proved to be too severe. Both Pierre Daye and Brian Waters succumbed to their wounds, leaving a community in mourning and a police department with a double homicide to solve.
The Montgomery County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division immediately launched an investigation into the killings. Detectives worked to piece together the events of that fatal night, appealing to the public for any information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. Despite their efforts and the passage of time, the case has remained unsolved. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of Pierre Daye and Brian Waters. The community was left to grapple with the senseless loss of two young lives as the search for justice continues.
