On the evening of January 28, 2019, 23-year-old Jordan Alexander Radway was fatally shot in what police described as a drug deal that turned violent. A Black man, Radway and a friend, 24-year-old Christian Deon Roberts, were discovered deceased inside a vehicle that had crashed into multiple parked cars in the 11600 block of Stewart Lane in White Oak, Maryland.
Both men had suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, and their deaths were ruled homicides by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The investigation into the double homicide revealed that the events leading to the deaths of Radway and Roberts began with a planned marijuana transaction. Detectives learned that an acquaintance, Noah Foster Barnett, had arranged for Radway to sell a quarter-pound of marijuana for $600 to another individual, Dontaye Jamahl Hunt. Radway and Roberts met with Hunt in the 11500 block of Stewart Lane shortly before 8:30 p.m. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing a vehicle speed away from the area just before a 911 call was made about a serious collision.
Within days of the incident, law enforcement made several arrests. Dontaye Jamahl Hunt, 18, was taken into custody on January 30, 2019, and charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The following day, 18-year-old Noah Foster Barnett was arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance. A third suspect, 20-year-old Andy K. Panton, was arrested on February 11, 2019, and also faced two counts of first-degree murder.
Subsequent legal proceedings brought some measure of resolution to the case. In September 2021, a jury found Andy Panton guilty of two counts of first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and the use of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He faced the possibility of two consecutive life sentences. Dontaye Hunt, following his arrest, admitted to investigators that he and another individual were armed with handguns with the intent to rob the victims.
