On a Thursday afternoon, March 30, 2023, the life of 44-year-old Steven Mouring of Suitland, Maryland, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded around 1:50 p.m. in the 8500 block of Greenbelt Road, where police responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Mouring inside a vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, responding patrol officers located a man attempting to flee the area. This individual was quickly taken into custody without incident and was identified as 26-year-old Daquan White of Greenbelt. A potential murder weapon was also recovered at the scene. The subsequent investigation revealed a familial connection between the two men; White was identified as Mouring's nephew.
The preliminary investigation suggested that the fatal shooting occurred during an argument between White and his uncle, Steven Mouring. Following his arrest, Daquan White was charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges. He was placed in the custody of the Department of Corrections and held on a no-bond status. The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is handling the ongoing investigation.
