In the spring of 2023, the life of a 29-year-old Black man, Dimante Fox, was tragically cut short on a street in Northeast Baltimore. On the afternoon of May 6th, at approximately 1:26 p.m., police responded to a call about a man lying in the street in the 5700 block of Perring Parkway. Upon arrival, officers discovered Fox unresponsive, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, but Fox's injuries were too severe, and
he was pronounced dead right there on the roadway. The initial police report did not release his name, pending notification of his family. Homicide detectives were called in to take control of the investigation, canvassing the area for evidence and potential witnesses to the deadly shooting.
The investigation into the death of Dimante Fox was opened, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward. A public appeal was made for tips that could lead to the identification and apprehension of any suspect or suspects involved in the killing. Despite the ongoing investigation by the Baltimore Police Department's homicide unit, there has been no public announcement regarding any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the case. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and a motive remain part of the active and open investigation.
