In the early morning hours of November 7, 2016, the life of 20-year-old Rayquan Garrett Givens was tragically cut short in Baltimore, Maryland. A male victim, later identified as Givens, was discovered by Southern District Patrol units who were responding to several calls reporting gunfire in the 3800 block of 10th Street at approximately 2:54 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers found Givens suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
He was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Rayquan Givens succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. At the time of the incident, Baltimore Police homicide detectives were investigating the shooting, and no information regarding any potential suspects or arrests was immediately made available. The authorities urged anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact the Homicide detectives or to provide anonymous tips through the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line.
Born on January 16, 1996, Rayquan was known affectionately as “Twin” or “Ray” to his family and friends. He was a 2014 graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. His death left his family and community to mourn the loss of a young life. Information regarding any subsequent arrests or the identification of any suspects in the murder of Rayquan Givens has not been publicly released.
