On a summer evening in Baltimore, chaos erupted in the 5100 block of Reisterstown Road, leaving one young man dead and another injured. Tommie Anderson, a 20-year-old male, was fatally wounded in a double shooting on June 28, 2023. The incident unfolded around 6:43 p.m., a time when the city was still bathed in daylight.
Police officers on patrol in the 5200 block of Reisterstown Road were alerted to the violence by an individual who flagged them down.
Their attention was directed to the nearby intersection of West Belvedere Avenue and Reisterstown Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Tommie Anderson was found unresponsive, having sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. A second victim, a 47-year-old man, was also at the scene with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.
Emergency medical services were promptly dispatched, and both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Tommie Anderson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The preliminary investigation conducted by the Baltimore Police Department indicated that the shooting had occurred approximately a block away from where the victims were found.
Homicide detectives have taken control of the ongoing investigation into Tommie Anderson's death.
