In the late afternoon of July 22, 2023, a dispute at a hotel in Capitol Heights, Maryland, escalated into a fatal encounter for 37-year-old Demetric Martin of Oxon Hill. The male victim was found outside the La Quinta Inn & Suites on Hampton Park Boulevard around 5:30 p.m., suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
