In the early evening of October 6, 2023, a sense of normalcy was shattered in an Oxon Hill, Maryland neighborhood. Kenyon Valentine, an 18-year-old male from Alexandria, Virginia, was found inside a vehicle in the 6800 block of Haven Avenue, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The discovery was made at approximately 5:45 PM, a time when the community was preparing for a local high school football game.
Responding officers immediately attempted to render aid, but Valentine’s
injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting occurred in close proximity to Oxon Hill High School, prompting a temporary lockdown of the school and the postponement of the scheduled football game that evening.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the fatal shooting. At this time, investigators are still working to determine a motive and to identify any suspect or suspects involved in the death of Kenyon Valentine. No arrests have been made in the case.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest and indictment in connection with the shooting.
