On a Thursday evening in October, the life of 44-year-old Kevin Jason Paul of Silver Spring was tragically cut short. The male victim was found in a parking lot in the 3400 block of 52nd Avenue in the Hyattsville area on October 19, 2023, at approximately 10:05 p.m., suffering from gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The investigation into the homicide revealed that Paul, a car mechanic and father to an 18-year-old son, was outside of Gee's Nightclub when the shooting occurred. Authorities have since released surveillance footage connected to the incident in the hopes of identifying those responsible. The video shows a dark-colored sedan, believed to be a newer-model Toyota Corolla, driving down 52nd Avenue. The driver of the vehicle is seen turning the car around, switching off the headlights, and then parking. A suspect then exits the vehicle and fires multiple rounds, striking Paul, before getting back in the car and fleeing the scene.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting. The Prince George's County Police Department is actively seeking information from the public and has offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to an arrest and indictment in the case. Detectives from the Homicide Unit are urging anyone with knowledge of the shooting to come forward and have provided multiple ways for individuals to share information, including the option to remain anonymous.
