Just before 10:30 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed through the 800 block of Bethune Road. When Baltimore Police officers arrived at the scene, they found 16-year-old Cormar Deshawn Askins, a Black male, suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services were immediately dispatched and transported the young
man to a nearby hospital. Despite the urgent efforts of medical professionals, Cormar succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. A student at Digital Harbor High School, his sudden and violent death sent ripples of grief through his school and the wider community. Known to his loved ones, the teenager's life was cut tragically short, leaving his family to grapple with an immeasurable loss.
In the wake of the shooting, homicide detectives from the Baltimore Police Department took control of the investigation. As of the latest available information, no arrests have been made in connection with Cormar's murder, and police have not publicly identified any suspects or a possible motive for the shooting. A reward of up to $8,000 has been offered for any information that leads to an arrest and charges being filed in the case.
