On the evening of February 29, 2024, a sense of normalcy was shattered in a South Baltimore neighborhood, leaving a family and community heartbroken. Just before 10:30 p.m., the sound of gunfire echoed through the 800 block of Bethune Road. When Baltimore Police officers arrived at the scene, they found 16-year-old Cormar Deshawn Askins, a Black male, suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds.
