On February 29, 2024, at approximately 10:27 p.m., Baltimore Police officers responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Bethune Road in the city's Southern District. Upon arrival, they discovered 16-year-old Cormar Deshawn Askins suffering from multiple life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Askins was pronounced dead at the scene.
