In the early morning hours of August 26, 2023, a quiet residential neighborhood in southwest Atlanta was disturbed by the sound of a car crash. Atlanta police responded to a call just after 1 a.m. and discovered a white sedan that had wrecked in the woods off Cascade Avenue. Inside the vehicle, they found 47-year-old Antonio Beckham, a male resident of Atlanta, GA.
He was conscious but suffering from gunshot wounds to his abdomen and leg.
Emergency services transported Beckham to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Investigators determined that Beckham was working for a repossession company and was attempting to repossess a vehicle when he was shot. The shooting caused him to crash his car into the nearby woods. The alleged shooter or shooters had fled the scene by the time police arrived.
The case, which was initially an active investigation, was officially declared a homicide in November of 2023.
