On an evening in Atlanta, Georgia, 51-year-old Anthony Lee Frazier was working as a security guard at American Wings & Seafood on Cleveland Avenue. It was just before 7 p.m. on April 18, 2022, when his life was tragically cut short. As Frazier got out of his vehicle, a man approached him from behind and shot him in the back of the head without any warning. The male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The motive for this sudden and violent act was believed to be robbery.
Surveillance footage from the scene was critical in the investigation that followed. The video disturbingly showed the gunman, after shooting Frazier, going through his pockets before calmly walking away. The footage also captured other individuals approaching Frazier's body after the shooting and taking items from him as he lay on the ground. This act was described as 'barbaric' by the Atlanta Police homicide commander. The police released the video to the public, asking for help in identifying the shooter and the other individuals involved.
Following tips from the public, the Atlanta Police Department identified a suspect. A manhunt ensued, and after a foot chase through a wooded area near the crime scene, officers arrested 30-year-old Stanley Henderson. Henderson, who had a criminal history that included at least 12 prior arrests for violent crimes, was found to be living in an urban encampment. He was charged with felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with Frazier's death.
Anthony Frazier, known affectionately as 'Ant' to his loved ones, was a father of three who was working a second job as a security guard to earn extra money. His family remembered him as a good, loving man who didn't deserve his fate. They held a prayer vigil in his honor outside the restaurant where he was killed, releasing red and black balloons to celebrate his love for the Atlanta Falcons. While the main suspect in his murder was captured, the police continued to seek the public's help in identifying the other individuals who were seen robbing Frazier's body.
