In a tragic sequence of events on a Wednesday in June, 39-year-old Antwan Jones of College Park, a male, lost his life in a fatal shooting in northwest Atlanta. The incident, which took place on June 13, 2018, began with a dispute at a Valero Gas Station on Donald Lee Holloway Parkway. Jones and his brother had gotten into an argument with at least two other men.
Following the initial confrontation, Jones walked to the nearby American Wings Seafood restaurant.
At some point after exiting the restaurant, he was confronted by several men in vehicles. As the altercation escalated, the men drew firearms. Jones attempted to flee by running across the busy parkway, but he was shot multiple times. He ultimately collapsed and died in the parking lot of a Petro Gas Station. The gunfire also struck a tractor-trailer in the vicinity.
In the weeks that followed, Atlanta police made three arrests in connection with the fatal shooting. Two weeks after the incident, Willie Fred Morgan, 23, and Shabazz Clay, 22, were taken into custody and charged with murder. Both were held in the Fulton County jail without bond. Shortly after, a third suspect, 23-year-old Cornelius Morgan, was also arrested and charged with murder. Police identified Cornelius Morgan as one of the suspected shooters. All three men remained in the Fulton County jail.
