On April 26, 1971, a 28-year-old white male named Obediah Reaves was at his job as a security guard at the Star Loan Company located at 227 Mitchell St. in Atlanta, Georgia. During his shift, two men entered the business in an attempt to commit a robbery.

In an act of bravery, Reaves attempted to intervene and stop the robbery by trying to jump one of the gunmen. Tragically, during the struggle, he was shot in the head. Emergency services were called, and Reaves was transported to a local ...
