In the early morning hours of March 11, 2014, a tragic event unfolded in northwest Atlanta that ended the life of 23-year-old Quantavious Lee Morrison, a Black/African American male. Police were called to the 2500 block of Center Street just before 1 a.m., where they discovered Morrison deceased in the passenger seat of a 2008 Dodge Avenger. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
The scene was marked by further violence, as several other vehicles in the vicinity had been damaged by gunfire.
The investigation into Morrison's death led Atlanta police to two brothers. The first break in the case came in early May 2014, when 24-year-old Terry Cochran was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting. He faced charges of murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. According to the incident report, Cochran was accused of killing Morrison by shooting him in the head with an automatic weapon. He was subsequently booked into the Fulton County Jail and held without bond.
A few months later, in August of the same year, the second suspect was apprehended. Terry Cochran's younger brother, 22-year-old Charles Cochran, was arrested on a murder warrant. His charges included murder, aggravated assault with intent to murder, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony. Following his arrest, Charles Cochran joined his brother at the Fulton County Jail, marking the culmination of the initial investigation into the death of Quantavious Lee Morrison.
