In the late afternoon of May 31, 2024, tragedy struck in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward neighborhood when 17-year-old Malik Dieonte Heard was found with a fatal gunshot wound. The young Black male was discovered near the intersection of 375 Boulevard NE and Wabash Avenue after officers responded to a call around 6 p.m. The circumstances that led to the shooting are still under investigation, and authorities have not yet identified any suspects in the case.
