The young boy, who had just celebrated his first birthday in August and was beginning to walk, was found deceased on a Saturday evening in what authorities have described as a heart-wrenching murder-suicide. The devastating discovery was made when officers conducted a wellness check at the Vineyards at Flat Shoals apartments.
Inside the residence, a grim scene awaited

Jontavious, along with his five-year-old sister Jedorah Powell, their 25-year-old mother Kaylyn Samuel, and their 43-year-old grandmother Mollian Johnson, had all been fatally shot. The man suspected of ending their lives, 42-year-old Jonathan Darden, was also found deceased at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Darden had been in a relationship with the children's grandmother, Mollian Johnson.
