In a quiet residential area of Hagerstown, Maryland, the life of 23-year-old Devin Anthony Meniefield, a male resident, was abruptly ended. On the afternoon of March 18, 2024, at approximately 1:25 PM, law enforcement responded to a call for a shooting in the 17400 block of Maple Leaf Court. Upon their arrival, they discovered Meniefield inside a residence, suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Despite immediate attention, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting moved swiftly. Within approximately 30 minutes of the incident, authorities located a suspect in the 1000 block of Noland Drive in Hagerstown. The suspect, identified as 16-year-old Kamari Kenyon Meniefield, was taken into custody without incident. The relationship between Devin and Kamari, if any, has not been publicly detailed, though they share the same last name.
Following the arrest, the Washington County Sheriff's Office announced that Kamari Meniefield would be charged as an adult. He faces a series of grave charges, including first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, and various weapons-related offenses. Kamari Meniefield is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond as he awaits legal proceedings.
