In the autumn of 2020, a shooting in Hagerstown, Maryland, resulted in the death of 27-year-old Jason Tyrone Christie. On the afternoon of Sunday, November 1, 2020, police responded to the 300 block of North Mulberry Street around 3:30 PM. Upon arrival, they discovered Christie, who had been shot twice in the chest. He was quickly transported to Meritus Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators identified a potential suspect, 38-year-old James Edward Williams, also from
Hagerstown. Police indicated that the two men were acquainted. Williams was taken into custody in the Knights Bridge Drive area. Following his arrest, a search warrant was executed at his residence at 1040 Brinker Dr., where evidence related to the case was collected.
Williams was subsequently charged with numerous offenses connected to the murder and was held at the Washington County Detention Center without bond. In a later development in the case, a mistrial was declared for Alexander Daniel Brooks in connection with Christie's death after the jury was deadlocked for hours.
