On August 4, 2024, Tai'Vion Lathan, a 24-year-old Black transgender woman, was tragically found dead in Baltimore, Maryland. Police discovered Lathan's body in a rear alley off the 800 block of North Monroe Street just after 10 a.m. She had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, and the Baltimore Police Department immediately opened a homicide investigation.
