In the evening hours of September 19, 2024, violence erupted in the Eastern District of Baltimore, claiming the life of Errique Jubar Neal Sr., a 26-year-old Black male. The incident unfolded at approximately 8:21 p.m. when the city's ShotSpotter system detected gunfire in the 1100 block of East 20th Street. Responding officers arrived to find evidence of a shooting, but no victims were present at the scene.
Shortly thereafter, a call came in from a local hospital reporting the arrival
of two individuals with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was Errique Jubar Neal Sr., who had sustained multiple injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased. A second man, aged 30, was also injured in the shooting and received treatment at the hospital.
Homicide detectives from the Baltimore Police Department were called in to take control of the investigation.
