In the late afternoon hours of a summer day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of Earnest J. Mays Jr., a 45-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On Sunday, July 21, 2024, just before 5:30 p.m., Mays was fatally shot in the vicinity of 40th and Chambers Street.
