Daniel Bell, a 22-year-old African American man, was fatally shot by Milwaukee police officer Thomas Grady on February 2, 1958. The incident began as a routine traffic stop for a broken taillight. Bell, fearing for his safety, fled the scene, prompting a chase by Grady and another officer, Louis Krause. The pursuit ended with Grady shooting Bell in the back of the neck at close range.
