D’Quince Crowell Jr., 18, a Black male, was shot just after 7 p.m. on August 30, 2024, near North 36th Street and West Burleigh Street in Milwaukee. Officers and first responders worked to save his life and rushed him to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. The shooting location was recorded around the 3100 block of North 36th Street.
It was a late-summer Friday evening on a busy North Side corridor when the gunfire broke the routine of the block.
Police cordoned off the intersection, gathered what witnesses they could, and began tracking the path of the bullets through shell casings and nearby cameras, as the quiet of the night returned after sirens faded toward the hospital.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in connection with the killing. At the time, Milwaukee police said the investigation was ongoing and asked for tips from the public as they searched for whoever was responsible. Public incident records and local reporting from that weekend likewise did not name a suspect.
Crowell’s death was also listed in national and local victim databases that track people lost to gun violence, recording his name, the date, and Milwaukee as the place where his life ended. Those records mirror the initial police account of the shooting and the lack of publicly identified suspects.
