In the early morning hours of August 6, 2023, a dispute inside a Tulsa nightclub escalated to gunfire, ending the life of 19-year-old Nicari Owens. The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. at The Kickback Club, located at 3400 E. Apache. When Tulsa police officers responded to the scene, they discovered Owens deceased inside the venue. Another individual, a woman, was also shot during the incident and received treatment for minor injuries before being released from the hospital.
