In the evening hours of August 27, 2023, 46-year-old Kalvin Hulvey was walking with a female companion in a north Tulsa neighborhood near Pine and Lewis. Their walk was abruptly interrupted when a man on a miniature motorcycle approached them. The man, described as a white male dressed in all black with a face mask, called out Hulvey's name before opening fire. Hulvey was struck by multiple gunshots and collapsed in the middle of the street.
