In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Oklahoma City, a discovery was made that would mark a tragic end to the life of Ira B. Spells. On December 5, 2023, police were called to the 6800 block of Northwest 10th Street for a welfare check. There, lying near the roadway, they found the body of 38-year-old Ira B. Spells, a Black male born on June 6, 1985.
The initial investigation by responding officers revealed that Spells had sustained injuries consistent with homicide, and his death
was quickly classified as such. It was later reported that he had been lost to gun violence. Authorities launched a full investigation into the city's 70th homicide of the year, seeking to piece together the events that led to Spells' untimely death.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Ira B. Spells. The case remains unsolved, and the Oklahoma City Police Department has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible.
