In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Oklahoma City, the life of Terry Jackson, a 34-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short in a burst of violence on a busy interstate. On December 10, 2023, at approximately 10:49 PM, Jackson was driving his vehicle southbound on Interstate 35, near SE 59th Street, when shots were fired from another vehicle in what police have described as a 'car-to-car' shooting.
The sudden attack marked the city's 72nd homicide of the year.
Responding to calls about the shooting, law enforcement officers arrived to a grim scene. They discovered Jackson's vehicle, riddled with multiple bullet holes, which had come to a stop near the SE 66th Street exit ramp after crashing on the service road. Inside the car, they found Terry Jackson, who had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The interstate was shut down for several hours as investigators began the painstaking process of piecing together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the homicide.
