In Oklahoma City, on September 4, 2021, a family dispute escalated into a fatal encounter, claiming the life of 61-year-old Richard Davis, a White male. The incident unfolded at a residence located near SE 44th and Durland Avenue. According to the homeowner, Kathy Westfall, Davis, who was reportedly intoxicated, was engaged in a violent altercation with her daughter.
In an effort to de-escalate the situation, Kathy summoned her son, Kyle Westfall, to the home.
Upon his arrival, Kyle Westfall was allegedly confronted by Davis, who was said to have attacked him with a large flashlight. In the ensuing confrontation, Kyle Westfall reportedly fired two gunshots, which proved fatal for Davis. Neighbors in the generally quiet area reported hearing the gunshots and expressed their shock over the violent turn of events. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Richard Davis deceased in the backyard of the residence, having sustained a gunshot wound.
Following the immediate investigation into the shooting, Kyle Westfall was taken into custody. He was subsequently arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a complaint of first-degree murder.
