On January 14, 2023, Hansoo Kim, a 58-year-old co-owner of Rainier Teriyaki in Seattle, was tragically shot and killed during an armed robbery at his restaurant. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. when three masked individuals entered the establishment with the intent to rob it. During the confrontation, Kim was shot in the chest after he reportedly attempted to protect one of his employees from the assailants. Despite his efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
