On the evening of September 28, 2023, a tragedy unfolded in the E Union area of Seattle that claimed the life of Nakawa Beasley, a 45-year-old Black / African American man. The night was shattered by the sound of gunfire, with witnesses reporting hearing between two and six shots. Around 7:45 PM, Seattle Police were called to the scene at 25th and Union, where they found Beasley lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to his abdomen.
