On November 29, 2007, Paul Douglas Raborn Jr., a 59-year-old man, was found dead in his Jacksonville, Florida residence. Raborn’s death was classified as a homicide, and he became the 139th reported homicide victim in Duval County that year. Despite investigative efforts by local authorities, the case remains unsolved and has become one of the many cold cases in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville has faced a persistent challenge in resolving homicides, especially during times of heightened violence in the city. With over 3,500 homicides in Jacksonville since 1980, many have gone unsolved, primarily due to a lack of witnesses or tangible evidence. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) continues to reexamine evidence in cold cases like Raborn’s, hoping that advancements in forensic technology may eventually lead to breakthroughs.
The JSO has a dedicated Cold Case Unit that works alongside other law enforcement agencies and advocacy groups to try to bring justice for victims. Despite these efforts, Raborn's case, like many others from that time, remains open, and law enforcement continues to seek public assistance.
