On November 17, 2023, 47-year-old Denise Sonia Pangelinan was fatally shot during a standoff between law enforcement and 49-year-old Shaun Luzama at her residence in Bremerton, Washington. Authorities were attempting to arrest Luzama, a suspect in a Pierce County homicide, when he barricaded himself inside Pangelinan's home.
