On June 5, 2024, 17-year-old Hazrat Ali Rohani, a Kent-Meridian High School student, was fatally shot outside a Big 5 Sporting Goods store in Renton, Washington. Rohani and two friends were attempting to return a malfunctioning airsoft gun when they were confronted by 51-year-old Aaron Brown Myers, an off-duty security guard.
