Nail I. Salamov, a 37-year-old man of Azerbaijani descent, tragically lost his life on May 6, 2019, in Wyomissing, PA, during a home invasion. Salamov was in his bedroom when two intruders forcefully entered his home by kicking in his door. The attackers sprayed him with pepper spray, and during the ensuing struggle, one of them shot him in the chest. Despite his efforts to fend off the intruders and call 911, Salamov succumbed to his injuries a few hours later at Reading Hospital.

The investigation into Salamov's death revealed that he was specifically targeted, although the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Salamov, who had no criminal history and was well-liked in his community, was a devoted father to his two young sons, aged 8 and 10. The community, particularly those originally from Azerbaijan, rallied to support his family, raising over $17,000 through a GoFundMe campaign to help his children.

In the aftermath of the crime, authorities identified Jarren Walker, a 36-year-old man from Reading, as the shooter. Walker was convicted of second-degree murder and several related charges, including conspiracy to commit murder and aggravated assault. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, Walker's accomplice remains unidentified, and the investigation into the case continues as authorities seek to bring the other perpetrator to justice.

The tragic death of Nail I. Salamov has left a lasting impact on his family and the community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and support in the face of such senseless violence.
