On the night of February 20, 2024, a burst of gunfire on the East Valley Highway in Kent, Washington, tragically cut short the life of 17-year-old Mohamed-Amin Farah. A Black / African American male, he was a passenger in a vehicle near the Renton border, just south of South 180th Street, when a violent exchange of bullets erupted with another vehicle.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear as the investigation continues.
Sometime after the altercation, two unidentified males arrived at Valley Medical Center in Renton. They left Mohamed-Amin, who had sustained a critical gunshot wound to the head, at the hospital and quickly fled the scene. Despite the immediate efforts of the hospital's medical staff to provide lifesaving care, his injuries proved to be fatal. The King County Medical Examiner's Office later officially ruled his death a homicide.
In the wake of the shooting, Kent Police detectives launched an extensive investigation into the incident. Authorities have reached out to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information about the shooting or the individuals involved to come forward. To date, no arrests have been announced, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the death of Mohamed-Amin Farah. The investigation remains active as police work to piece together the events of that fatal night.
