On January 4, 2023, 23-year-old James Anderson was fatally shot during an incident at the DeSoto Bass apartment complex in Dayton, Ohio. The shooting occurred in the 1800 block of Banker Place and resulted in the deaths of Anderson and another victim, 22-year-old Victor Humphrey. Both men were shot during what has been described as a disturbance involving multiple individuals. Anderson was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
