On July 18, 2024, Demarius Underwood, an 18-year-old from Dayton, Ohio, was tragically killed in a shooting incident that also claimed the life of 25-year-old Dejuan Hooker. The two men were discovered deceased inside a vehicle that had crashed into the back of a house on Cleverly Road around 3:50 PM. The Montgomery County Coroner's Office confirmed their identities shortly after the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting suggest it was part of a broader pattern of violence in the area. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire prior to the discovery of the vehicle. Following the shooting, authorities arrested two individuals. A 21-year-old man was charged with having weapons under disability, while an 18-year-old male faced multiple charges including misconduct in an emergency and resisting arrest after he attempted to breach the crime scene. As of now, police have not identified any additional suspects connected to the shooting, and investigations are ongoing. The Dayton Police Department's homicide unit is actively seeking information from the public to aid in solving this case.
