Tevin K. Million, a 27-year-old African American man from Dayton, Ohio, tragically lost his life on June 11, 2018. He was fatally shot during an early morning robbery in the 2300 block of Newport Avenue. According to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office, Million was robbed and shot multiple times. The incident occurred around 4 a.m., and Million succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Following the incident, a thorough investigation was launched, leading to the arrest and
indictment of three individuals: Carlos Lamont Blanton Jr., Tylin Christopher Watson, and Kalesha Whitner. Blanton and Watson were both 22 years old at the time of the crime, while Whitner was 23. The trio faced multiple charges, including murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and multiple weapons violations.
In July 2019, D’Mariyan Marquise Glass, a 23-year-old from Moraine, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery, and tampering with evidence. Blanton and Watson were sentenced to 20 years in prison for their roles in Million’s death. Watson also received a 49-years-to-life sentence for a separate fatal shooting that occurred on Memorial Day in 2018. Whitner and Glass remained in custody awaiting sentencing.
The case highlighted the severe consequences of violent crime and the importance of swift justice for victims and their families. The community mourned the loss of Tevin K. Million, a young man whose life was cut short by a senseless act of violence.
