William Sarver, a 57-year-old man from Dayton, Ohio, tragically died on June 6, 2016. Sarver was talking to friends in a vehicle on Riverview Avenue when Deonte Snowden, a 36-year-old man, approached and began yelling at him. The situation escalated quickly when Snowden pulled out a gun and shot Sarver once in the stomach. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Sarver succumbed to his injuries.
Following the incident, witnesses called 911, and Snowden fled the scene.
He was later indicted on two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of bribery, and one count of having weapons under disability. Snowden was arrested in October 2016 in Mesa, Arizona, and was subsequently extradited to Montgomery County for trial. In July 2018, he was found guilty on all charges and was sentenced accordingly.
