On the morning of February 25, 2023, at approximately 7:35 a.m., 31-year-old William Hackney was discovered unresponsive inside a vehicle parked in front of a residence on the 700 block of Dunbar Drive in Akron, Ohio. The vehicle, found by a woman who noticed her car riddled with bullet holes, contained Hackney, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Hackney's cause of death was gunshot wounds to the torso.
Investigators recovered shell casings and other evidence from the scene. Despite these efforts, no arrests have been made, and the case remains under active investigation. Authorities have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Akron Police Department's Detective Bureau or provide anonymous tips through the Summit County Crimestoppers.
