On June 9, 2023, at approximately 1:39 p.m., Columbus police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of Denune Avenue in the East Linden neighborhood. Upon arrival, they found 32-year-old Rapheal Leon Vantel Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Jones was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 2:46 p.m.
