On December 15, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., 21-year-old Kaelan Amerson was fatally shot in Jefferson Township, near Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred on the 1400 block of Climbing Fig Drive, in proximity to Licking Heights West Elementary School. According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, Amerson and four others were engaged in a drug transaction when 23-year-old Nicko Matthews-Cooper attempted to rob them.
